Context  The Center for Green Market Activation™ (GMA) is a US-based, globally-focused nonprofit that was launched in June of 2024. Through innovative creative procurement approaches and demand aggregating buyers’ alliances, GMA catalyzes and scales the uptake of low- and zero-carbon goods and services in the hardest-to-abate sectors. GMA’s organizational design combines shared expertise and infrastructure with sector-specific programs. By consolidating a range of value chain (i.e. supplier) decarbonization initiatives under a single non-profit umbrella, we help companies ramp up their value chain decarbonization efforts quickly, starting in one sector and easily moving into another.  GMA seeks employees committed to addressing the climate crisis, who are highly entrepreneurial, with strong people skills, and an ability to learn new, technical subject matter and speak to it with authority. We are entering a phase of rapid growth and are seeking a Communications & Campaigns Director to lead GMA’s communications strategy and develop high-impact campaigns that build momentum for corporate climate action and accelerate the adoption of new approaches to decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors.  Our motto is “Getting more done, together” so we only seek employees who love working collaboratively and are focused on implementation over perfection.  Work/Life Balance  GMA takes work/life balance very seriously. Outside of stakeholder meetings, we will be as flexible as possible on work hours to meet your particular home life needs. Staff will be expected to work an average of 8 hours/ business day.  Location  Remote, contiguous United States (no AK or HI due to time zone). Applicant must currently live in and have the right to work in the United States. Preference will be given to applicants in CA, CO, DC, GA, MA, MD, MN, NH, NJ, NY, OR, TX, WA.   Role Overview  The Communications & Campaigns Director will lead the development and execution of GMA’s organization-wide communications strategy, working closely with the existing GMA communications team, the CEO, Chief Strategy & External Affairs Officer and GMA’s program team. This is not a traditional nonprofit communications role focused primarily on promoting organizational news. GMA is looking for a creative and ambitious communications leader who sees communications as a tool for mobilizing action.  Major developments in corporate climate standards are creating new opportunities for companies to address some of their hardest-to-address emissions, lying with suppliers deep in their value chain. GMA is developing and scaling the mechanisms, including collective procurement using book-and-claim approaches, that can help companies turn those opportunities into action. The Communications & Campaigns Director will help connect these dots: translating complex developments into compelling narratives, identifying moments to build momentum, and developing campaigns that motivate companies to participate.  The role will also be responsible for elevating GMA’s institutional profile and positioning the organization as a leading global environmental non-profit and trusted voice on demand-driven decarbonization. This will require storytelling, strong media relationships, rapid and creative responses to an evolving climate landscape, and close coordination across GMA’s work in aviation, maritime, trucking, cement and concrete, plastics, agriculture, and other emerging sectors.  Key Responsibilities:  This role has two connected areas of primary responsibility:   Communications Strategy & Institutional Positioning  Campaign Strategy & Mobilization  Additional key responsibilities relevant to both primary areas include:  Media Relations & Thought Leadership  Messaging, Content & Executive Communications   Partnerships & Cross-Sector Coordination  Skills and Qualifications  Required:  Preferred:  Salary and Benefits  The Center for Green Market Activation is committed to equal employment opportunities for all qualified applicants, without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
