Context
The Center for Green Market Activation™ (GMA) is a U.S.-based, globally focused nonprofit launched in June 2024. Through innovative book-and-claim systems, creative procurement approaches, and aggregated buyers’ alliances, GMA accelerates the uptake of low- and zero-carbon goods and services across hard-to-abate sectors. Our organizational model blends cross-cutting technical expertise with sector-specific programs, enabling companies to rapidly scale Scope 3 mitigation efforts across aviation, maritime, trucking, concrete, chemicals, and more.
In 2023, GMA launched GMA Trucking, a buyers’ alliance designed to accelerate decarbonization of the heavy-duty trucking sector by driving investment in and adoption of zero-emission (ZE) vehicles. GMA Trucking pools demand from climate-leading companies and partners with carriers, OEMs, and charging and fueling providers to design and execute real-world projects deploying battery-electric (BEV) and fuel-cell electric (FCEV) trucks. The Senior Associate or Associate (experience dependent) will play a central role in shaping and implementing the next phase of this initiative, working directly with major corporate buyers, industry partners, and technical experts to unlock large-scale deployments of zero-emission freight solutions.
Prior experience in the trucking or transportation sector is not required. We encourage candidates with management consulting and other relevant backgrounds.
GMA seeks employees who are mission-driven, highly entrepreneurial, excited to learn technical subject matter, and able to communicate with clarity and confidence. Our motto, “Getting more done, together,” is core to our culture. Ideal candidates thrive in collaborative environments and prioritize implementation over perfection.
Work/Life Balance
GMA takes work/life balance very seriously. Outside of stakeholder meetings, we will be as flexible as possible on work hours to meet your particular home life needs. Staff will be expected to work an average of 8 hours/day.
Location
Remote, contiguous United States (no AK or HI due to time zone). Applicant must currently live in and have the right to work in the United States.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
The Senior Associate/Associate will support the design and execution of complex, multi-stakeholder decarbonization initiatives within the GMA Trucking program. This role combines strategy development, rigorous analysis, stakeholder coordination, and hands-on implementation support. While our current opening is in the trucking program, GMA team members often shift to work on additional sectoral programs over time, if they have an interest. We find this approach prevents program-specific silos by enabling experienced team members to take what they have learned in one sector and apply it to others.
The position is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling ambiguous problems, synthesizing diverse inputs into clear insights, and driving high-quality execution across complex workstreams. The Senior Associate/Associate will contribute to projects spanning market analysis, procurement design, member engagement, and cross-sector collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the strategy development and execution of GMA’s Heavy-Duty Trucking initiative under the direction of program leadership.
- Conduct market, policy, and techno-economic analyses related to zero-emission trucking technologies, infrastructure, and regulatory developments. Synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights for internal strategy and external stakeholders.
- Support the design and implementation of innovative procurement efforts, including scoping, supplier engagement tracking, bid evaluation synthesis, and identification of program improvement opportunities.
- Develop executive-ready presentation materials, including member briefings, supplier webinars, technical explainers, and strategic planning documents, with a strong emphasis on clarity, analytical rigor, and visual effectiveness.
- Draft and edit content for member communications, procurement summaries, public materials, and internal strategy documents, translating complex technical and market information into clear, decision-relevant language.
- Support engagement with corporate members and partners, including onboarding preparation, meeting synthesis, follow-up coordination, and workshop support.
- Coordinate across internal teams and workstreams to ensure alignment, information flow, and effective program delivery.
- Contribute to emissions, cost, and technical analyses, including data preparation, total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling support, emissions calculations, and background research to inform strategic decisions.
- Support collaboration across GMA’s sectoral initiatives, identifying opportunities for knowledge sharing and strategic alignment.
- Strong commitment to addressing the climate crisis and interest in advancing zero-emission freight and heavy-duty transportation solutions.
- 1–5 years of experience in strategy consulting, advisory, policy analysis, or other project-based professional environments.
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, environmental studies, sustainability, supply chain, public policy, economics, or a related field.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and research capabilities, with comfort handling quantitative and qualitative data.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, entrepreneurial, highly collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Experience in transportation, logistics, or clean mobility sectors.
- Familiarity with corporate climate commitments (e.g., Science Based Targets), Scope 3 accounting, or book-and-claim systems.
- Experience with procurement processes or bid evaluations.
- Experience developing visual content, dashboards, or structured analytical summaries.
- Salary $64,000 - $140,000 dependent on qualifications and geographical location
- Eligibility for 15%+ year-end bonus
